Should I use followers or reach?
Engagement rate by followers is the standard for comparing accounts. Engagement rate by reach (engagements divided by the number of unique accounts that saw the post) better reflects how a specific post performed, since reach can be much smaller or larger than your follower count.
What is a good engagement rate?
It varies by platform and audience size. As a rough guide for Instagram, under 1% is low, 1–3.5% is solid, and above 3.5% is strong. Smaller accounts typically see higher rates than very large ones.
